I enabled karma on this forum. Basically, when someone posts something laudable (aka WIN or AWESOME or EPIC), you can click "Applaud" above their avatar to give them one karma point. Likewise, someone who posts something unfavorable can be "smite"-d (smitten, whatever).

This is supposed to be an indicator of the user's contributions to the forum, so if I see this system being abused, I will turn it off. Easy as that.

Also, if you see something where someone has broken a major rule, don't just smite them but tell a moderator/admin. If you see someone abusing karma, also don't hesitate to tell an admin/mod.

This is the kind of thing that I'll use in copious amounts for the first few days, and then completely forget about.

Either that, or I just won't use it altogether.

But it's an interesting concept...I've never heard of it before, showing once again my ineptitude in the proper etiquette of internet social circles?

Hey Inny. Yeah, the feature came with the board, so I figured, why not? I'll probably only end up using it for a musician that creates something quite good.
